Looking to achieve the sultry lifted brow look without going under the knife? You’ve come to the right place. Right now we’re just loving the feathery lifted brow look, so let’s talk about how to achieve it! We all know that eyebrows can make a dramatic change to your appearance, and picking the right look can be tricky. Skip the surgery, we’re talking about the botox brow lift.
This post has everything you need to know about getting a Botox brow lift.
When we think about cosmetic procedures, Botox is the brand that comes to mind. For years, Botox has been a household name for wrinkle relaxing neurotoxin injections. To learn more about the difference between each brand of neurotoxin, click here.
How does Neurotoxin work?
Injectable neurotoxin disrupts the signal that your brain sends to your muscles to tell them to contract. By limiting the movement of those muscles, your injector will help you achieve a desired look or stop the wrinkling of your skin. The 4 brands of neurotoxin are Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, and Xeomine, all of which contain the same active ingredient: Botulinum toxin Type A (BoNT-A).
How does neurotoxin lift the eyebrows?
Botox or another brand of neurotoxin is injected to the muscles between the brows to relax them. The muscles in the forehead will now take full control, leaving you with a lifted and open eye effect. Toxin injected in the corrugator muscles ~the muscles between your eyes~ aka. “the 11s” will relax the muscles that pull your forehead (& brows!) down when you make a frown. When these muscles are relaxed, the opposite muscles, above the brows, kick into gear and pull the inner portion of the brows upwards. Neurotoxin can also be injected at the outer end of each eyebrow to soften the underlying muscles. Injections at this location will typically result in the trending “fox-eye” look.
Thinking about getting your brows lifted?
The beauty of the toxin brow lift is that it isn’t permanent! Neurotoxin injections typically take 3-10 days to take effect and last approximately 3-4 months depending on the area and the patient. That means if you don’t like it, just don’t go in to have the procedure redone and your brows will go back to normal after a few months.
The procedure is very quick, the injections only take a few minutes. That being said, it’s extremely important that you see a board-certified practitioner. If the toxin is incorrectly placed, you could end up with a droopy eyelid or a flattened out brow arch! Correct technique and anatomy knowledge is crucial when it comes to injections.
The price of the procedure varies by skill level of the injector, clinic location, and many other factors. Typically Botox is charged by the unit (more on that here!), and can be priced anywhere between C$10-20 per unit. The number of units required for the Botox Brow Lift depends on the patient and the desired effect, but you can estimate about 5-10 units.
Surgical vs. Non-Surgical Brow Lift
Typically a surgical brow lift, also called a forehead lift, is an invasive procedure that involves moving the muscles and subcutaneous tissue under the forehead and brows to give a lifted effect. The non-surgical counterpart, the “Botox Brow Lift” is minimally invasive, non-permanent, and has no downtime!
